SURPRISE!!

We are back to Gainesville after a fun weekend.  Where'd we go, you ask?  We went to Orange Park, FL (near Jacksonville) to surprise our friend, Jordan, for his 21st birthday!  Jordan and Chris are good friends and former roommates.  They actually met when I moved up to Gainesville into Campus Lodge Apartments and I was assigned as a random roommate to Sarah, who is Jordan's sister.  Jordan lived in the building across from us, so he and Chris started to hang out while Chris was visiting me at my apartment.  The following year, they moved into an apartment together.

Here is a picture of Chris and Jordan from a few years back on one of our group Disney trips (we had just gotten off Splash Mountain - that's why their shirts are wet!).

When we arrived to OP yesterday, we headed straight to Jordan's apartment to help decorate and get everyone ready for the big surprise!  Chris and I helped with the streamers (I have to admit, it was mostly Chris because of his height advantage!).  I was super excited for this weekend to see Sarah, Jordan's sister.  She is one of my best friends who now lives in Atlanta - so I don't get to see her much!  We were both in each others weddings and are both also Gator Nurses!

Sarah and I, ready for the surprise!
Some more of the gang
We got the alert from Sarah's husband Michael (who was with Jordan before the surprise) that they were in the apartment complex.  So everyone took their spots...

SURPRISE!!

After relaxing at Jordan's apartment and watching an awesome video tribute that Sarah made for Jordan, we headed out to Adventure Landing for go-karts, mini golf, laser tag, and arcade games!  We did 2 rounds of go-karts, 1 round of laser tag, and a lot of arcade games.  It had been YEARS since I had been to any place like that.  Here's a picture of Chris and I with our awesome pink wrist bands.

Adam, Jordan, and Sarah
After a couple of hours of play, we returned to Jordan's apartment to eat pizza.  The boys immediately started playing Halo while the girls had a fun time of girl talk in the kitchen.  A dairy queen run was included in the evening as well.  Chris and I both got mini blizzards - they are the perfect size!  After the DQ run, the boys got Sarah and I to play Halo...I didn't think we did too shabby!  We left the boys to play all night and headed back to Sarah's parents house to sleep - we were SO exhausted!

Today we joined Sarah's family at Hibernia Baptist Church for the opening of their new building.  It was great to be back in a church service!  Unfortunately, I have had to work the past several Sundays, so I have missed church.  It looks like I am going to have the same problem for the next several weeks as well.  Right now I am in orientation at Shands, so I have to follow my preceptor's schedule, and she works Sun-Tues.  I know that God has great things in store for me to learn during this period of not being able to attend church!

After church we spent some time with Sarah, Michael, and her family, then headed back to Gainesville!  On the way home we stopped for lunch at The Loop.  I got the grilled chicken sandwich with tomato bisque soup (amazing!) and Chris got the barbecue chicken sandwich.

My hubby :)

We were able to stop at the high school that he teaches at (it's exactly on the route we take home from Orange Park!) and finish up a few things in his classroom.  I fully intended on taking pictures of his room, but I forgot :/  Next time!

It was nice to get away for the weekend and spend time with friends.  Now it's back to the routine!  I'm off to get things ready for another week - less than a week until Gator football, though!

Have a great Sunday!

To Greek...or not to Greek

I finally have a Saturday AND Sunday off - yay!  It worked out perfectly because we are heading out of town very shortly.  I can't tell you where and what for yet, but it should be a fun weekend!  :)  Check back tomorrow for a recap!

On a random note, I tried the peach flavored Chobani Greek Yogurt this morning for breakfast - quite tasty!  I was nervous to try greek yogurt, but several of my friends have been raving about it.  Its texture is much different than regular yogurt, but I enjoyed it!  I may branch out and try a few different flavors.  As many of you know, Chris used to work in the dairy department at Publix, so he is familiar with the product.  He said that a lot of customers told him that once you get started on greek yogurt, you can't go back to regular...we'll see!  Have a splendid Saturday and I will post a recap of my exciting weekend ahead tomorrow!

Hello!

Well, I finally did it.  After years of saying, "I want to start a blog" or "I would post this in my blog", I have finally created a blog.  The reason I resisted creating a blog for so long was because I had no answer when friends would ask "What would you blog about?".  I felt like I had to have a topic for my blog...I am still unsure of what this blog is going to turn into - whether I am going to use it to document my kitchen adventures, my spiritual journey, or just what me and the hubs are up to - but I am ready start blogging!  Once I got over the whole 'I don't have a topic for my blog' thing, the next hurdle was "What should I name my blog?".  Chris, my husband, gave me all sorts of creative ideas for names, but none of them jumped out as being "it" (goofy I know).  As I was listening to music while organizing our guest room/office today, I came across the song "Two Is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls feat Taylor Swift...I knew that was "it".  Not only does it represent how amazing marriage is, but I also think of it as how much better we are with God in our lives.  Me and God is better than just me.

Here are the lyrics to the chorus of the song, for those of you who aren't familiar with it :)

Maybe it's true, that I can't live without you
Maybe two is better than one
But there's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you've already got me coming undone
And I'm thinking, two is better than one

Well, my husband just walked in the door, so I'm off to spend time with him.  Have a great night!
